DemonicChocobo's Guide to Basic Spriting
Anyways, I was supposed to be doing something for REDDAP...but this was somehow created instead...It's also pretty ironic. Anyways, enjoy the guide.

Made with? I assume ps?

MS Paint, actually. I don't like using photoshop for spriting, nor would I recommend it.

Really? I wasn't aware that paint included thumbnails. A vista variant, the .net one maybe? Where can I get my hands on this hotrod of a paint? It shall replace graphics gale as my product of use at the look of things.

i don't mind saying it's nice, but i still think Southy's is better. this is helpful, however, if you don't want those really short sprites that just about everyone else has.

This guide can be used for "Short Sprites" too...just make the line art smaller...

That's a pretty fine tutorial you have there!

I assume this can be used to make custom battlechars for RM2K3's DBS?

Anyways, 4/5 yeah!

That may also be a cool way of drawing sprites for many purposes... I can imagine some of them just right now in my mind.

You can pretty much make any kind of sprite you want, but careful of using too many colors, RM doesn't like colors <_<

Actually, you can just download Ultimate Paint, import the finished picture and save it as a 256-color PNG, and you'll see the colours either won't or hardly will change, whereas saving it as a 256 from MsPaint will muck up the colours.

I'm liking this tutorial. Got me motivated to start making my own charsets again. Go DC!

PS: Nice Rodpop sprite.

Can't say no to this. And JPEGs do most definetaly suck.

It's not a bad tutorial. Maybe you should go a little more in depth about how to actually draw the outline well. Another program that's good at converting to 256 colors is graphicsgale.
