REVIEW INTRO:
A game where the player must shoot at rocks while trying to stay alive. The game is reminiscent of the game Asteroids. Except Asteroids was, and still is, more fun than this game.
Note: I did not buy this game because all features can be played and beat before the trial ends.
GRAPHICS: 3/10
The best part of this game (and that doesn’t say much). The graphics are like a semi-3D style of the classic Asteroids. Unfortunately, they are not very impressive (everything clusters and looks the same).
MUSIC: 1/10
The title screen has no music or soundeffects. Playing the game has music that will make your ears bleed. The “music” is two musical notes switching off between each other, while soundeffects randomly play.
STORY: 0/10
No story.
GAMEPLAY & FEATURES: 1/10
Shoot the Rocks. A concept so simple I am amazed it could be screwed up. The main problem lies in the controls. Moving the ship around is a dangerous prospect that usually ends in it being destroyed 9then you never know when you are about to respawn). If you see your ship heading for disaster, pressing the (X) button will randomly move it (and it is hard to tell where). Other than that, shooting at rocks is easy. Bigger rocks will break into smaller rocks for you to shoot. The game also has a high score tracker for the best 10 scores, but the game is just not entertaining enough to try for high scores.
OVERALL: 1/10
Shoot the Rocks is not worth the price of admission. Fans of Asteroids should stay away, lest you see how the game could have been made wrong.
